Will Broussard wears many hats. Depending on the day, you might find him slaying a drum kit with the Death Set or getting MTV placements for his project, Village Psychic. This weekend, he takes the stage at EDC Las Vegas as Terror Dactel.

We got a chance to check in with Broussard as he prepares for a weekend of debauchery. Check out the interview and the new Terror Dactel remix of “Farrah Fawcett Hair” after the jump.

I understand you grew up in NoVa, how often to get back to the DMV?

I go back to NoVa every couple months.  I have a lot of good friends down there that keep me grounded and inspired.  Sometimes I come back to work in my studio.  I tend to be less distracted when I work down there.

Yeah, you’re a busy dude. How do you manage to split your time between Terror Dactel, Village Psychic and the Death Set?

Siri helps out a lot. Sometimes it feels like a bit much, but I split my weeks and months accordingly.  The work comes in waves.  The key is to have my calendars synced up. Luckily I love all the projects, so it’s lots of fun!

How long have you been making music as Terror Dactel?

I’ve been making music as Terror Dactel since 2008. I think the first track I did under that name was “Gunslinger.”  You can still find it floating around on Hypem somewhere.

Are you working on anything specific right now?

The Death Set just finished a new EP for Dim Mak, entitled King Babies.  It’s due out later this summer.  Village Psychic has its debut EP, Alright, coming out late this summer with a follow up full-length due out late fall or early winter.  I am also working on the live set for Village Psychic with a band. As Terror Dactel, I just put out a Capital Cites remix with the talented DJ Phresh for the song, “Farrah Fawcett Hair.”  DJ Phresh and I are currently working on a dance EP for later this year as well a live set that involves me drumming live while he DJs.

What are you most excited to see/do at EDC Las Vegas?

I am most excited to see Empire of the Sun.  I am huge fan of everything they do.  But, the thing I am most excited for is my EDC set, since it’s the first time I will be doing an original live set.  It’s about an hour and fifteen minutes of high-energy dance music that I’ve been working on over the course of this last year.

Do you have any other live shows scheduled besides EDC Las Vegas?

I do have more live shows in the works, but the details have yet to be announced.

EDM–especially dubstep–has become so popular in mainstream music. Do you think that’s a good or bad thing for the future evolution of the genre? Why?

I think it’s great for the genre.  The EDM “dubstep” movement has opened a lot of doors for a lot of talented producers. It has definitely shaken up what the top 100 sounds like.  At the same time it forces people to be more creative with the music they put out in the genre and in general.

If you could collaborate with any artist in the world right now, who would it be?

Rick Rubin.  The man is a genius and I feel like I could learn a lot.

What do you miss the most about the D.C. area?

The thing I miss about the D.C. area are the people and Redskins football.
